What's the future?

The future of technician work is summed up in one word: technology.  The technology used in plants, substations, and other key places technicians work is rapidly changing.  It is essential to keep your skills sharp in the field to be an integral part of all that is happening in the energy field!

Some emerging technician careers in renewable energy include Solar Thermal Installer & Technician and Wind Turbine Technician.  These require the same skills as detailed under Technician, but will require learning new materials and technology. 

 
Technician
These jobs, as well as Electrician, Boilermaker, and Electronics Technician, fall under the Technician category. If you are good at fixing things, this could be the job for you! Overall, you would be in charge of making sure machines, mechanical equipment, and buildings are working properly and in good condition.
